About Me

Meet Susanna

I'm Susanna Mikkelson, Clinical Hypnotherapist.

I believe meaningful change begins from within. My own life experiences have taught me about resilience, personal growth, and the power of creating a different path forward.

Today, I provide a supportive and personalized space where you can explore the patterns, habits, thoughts, and experiences that may be keeping you from moving forward.

My journey to creating Your Serenity of the Mind and Body has been shaped by a lifetime of serving others, personal challenges, relationships, health experiences, and a deep desire to help people discover that they have the ability to create meaningful change in their lives.

I was born into a farming family with five children. When I was just three months old, my father passed away in a truck accident. My mother is an incredibly strong woman, and she raised all of us to be strong, independent, and resilient.

Growing up with that loss shaped me in many ways. Like many people, I have experienced childhood experiences and emotional challenges that have stayed with me into adulthood. Over time, I have learned that our experiences can influence the way we think, respond, relate to others, and experience ourselves—but they do not have to define our future.

I am a divorced mother of three adult children, and I am also part of a blended family, co-raising two teenage boys with my partner and his ex-wife. These experiences have taught me a great deal about relationships, communication, resilience, and personal growth.

Before I was married, I served as a Youth Minister, where I discovered how much I loved working with people of all ages. That experience taught me the importance of listening without judgment, meeting people where they are, and helping others recognize their own worth and potential. Those lessons continue to influence the way I work with my clients today.

I have also experienced my own health and emotional challenges, including periods when I felt overwhelmed, frightened, and unsure how to manage everything I was experiencing. Then a coworker introduced me to rREST. I agreed to try a session, not expecting it to have much impact. Instead, I began to experience relief from anxiety I had carried for years. I noticed that things that once triggered strong emotional reactions didn't seem to have the same power over me. I felt calmer, less overwhelmed, and more in control, and I also experienced improvements in my overall well-being.

That experience made me curious about the powerful connection between the mind, emotions, behaviors, and body. I wanted to understand it more deeply and learn how I could help other people experience meaningful change in their own lives. That curiosity led me to pursue hypnotherapy and eventually become a Certified Hypnotherapist and Life Mastery Coach.

I also completed specialized training in IMAGO communication and Reiki, and earned my Associate of Occupational Studies degree in Mind-Body Transformational Psychology, giving me an academic foundation for the mind-body work that is central to my practice.

Alongside this work, I have spent 23 years as a Registered Dental Hygienist and am also a Myofunctional Therapist. This experience has given me a unique perspective on the connection between the mouth, jaw, breathing, posture, sleep, stress, and the rest of the body.

Over time, I became especially interested in how stress and subconscious patterns can contribute to physical tension, including clenching and grinding. This has led me to incorporate my Bruxism/Mind-Jaw Reset approach into my work, helping clients explore the relationship between awareness, relaxation, stress, and jaw tension.

All of these experiences have come together to shape the way I practice today.

I don't believe people can always separate their thoughts, behaviors, bodies, emotions, and relationships into neat little categories.

They are connected.

That is why my approach brings together Hypnotherapy, Life Mastery Coaching, IMAGO communication, Reiki and subtle energy work, and mind-body approaches. My professional experience allows me to look at the person as a whole while recognizing that each client has a unique history, needs, and goals.

I also believe that our past experiences can influence us without having to control our future.

Patterns can change.
Habits can change.
The way we communicate can change.
Our relationship with ourselves can change.

Sometimes the first step is simply becoming aware of what has been happening beneath the surface.

My role is not to tell you who you should be or how you should live. My role is to provide a compassionate, supportive space where you can explore your patterns, recognize your strengths, and discover what is possible for you.

Whether you are looking for personal transformation, support with a relationship, greater confidence, healthier habits, emotional peace, improved communication, or help with patterns such as clenching and grinding, I meet you where you are and help you create a personalized path forward.

I created Your Serenity of the Mind and Body because I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to find greater peace within themselves and create a life that feels more intentional, connected, and fulfilling.

My hope is that our work together helps you feel more peaceful, empowered, connected, and in control of the life you are creating.

I started this journey because I experienced what it felt like to move from feeling overwhelmed and defeated to feeling more peaceful and empowered.

Now, I want to help others discover what may be possible for them.

Let's work together to help you find your serenity.
